A Barbie Dream House? History makes it sound more like a nightmare.
As the name might suggest, the Pink House is a pink Victorian mansion nestled on the corner of West State Street and Brooklyn Avenue in Wellsville, NY. It may look like the home of a fairy tale princess or a six-year-old’s dream home. But, in fact, it was once the site of several tragic and mysterious deaths.
According to the legend of the Pink House, a young woman named Frances Farnum was engaged to E.B. Hall, the man who built the Pink House. But, unfortunately, she was still in love with her childhood sweetheart, Hanford Lennox Gordon. Frances’s father didn’t approve of her affections towards Gordon, and so he forged a pair of letters and sent them to Frances and Gordon, successfully ending their relationship. The next time Frances saw Gordon, he ignored her. Unable to handle the pain of her broken heart, Frances drowned herself in the fountain of the Pink House.
And that is only the beginning of the drownings in the Pink House’s fountain…
