Folklore and Legends

aaron-mahnkeIt’s hard to feel the strange and paranormal in the 21st century. Cell phones and social media seem to always connect us with each other and the rest of the world, which makes it difficult for anyone to feel frightened and alone. Perhaps that is one of the reasons why Lore is such a hit nowadays.

Lore began in 2015 by Aaron Mahnke and is best described as a podcast of scary stories told around a campfire. Each podcast runs 20-20 minutes and focuses on folklore–some well known such as Robert the Doll and others lesser known such as Hoosac Tunnel in Massachusetts. The aspect that makes Lore such a fascinating podcast is that every story told in it, is believed to be true–either historical events or documented stories.

33623429_1912176872376253_135326770160205824_nLore has won multiple awards including iTunes “Best of 2015” & “Best of 2016“, and winner of “Best History Podcast 2016” by the Academy of Podcasters. The bi-weekly podcast currently has 92 episodes and hasn’t shown any sign of slowing down. There is currently a television series based on the Lore podcast on Amazon Prime, with a second season on the way. There are also multiple books written by Mahnke as a part of the Lore universe.

The Lore podcast is available on all podcast players and is a guaranteed good time, whether you’re looking to get spooked around Halloween, or just looking to dig deeper into the dark side of history.

Because sometimes the truth is more frightening than fiction.
