There’s nothing quite like a historic mansion finding new life in the 21st Century. When that “new life” includes a boutique winery, you might think it’s too good to be true! Did we also mention that this mansion is haunted? As if things couldn’t get any better!
Black Dog Wine Company was only established in 2016. By winery standards, they’re still babies. But that doesn’t stop them from producing award-winning wines and making their mark on the vinification scene just outside of Pittsburgh.
In 2018, they moved into one of Oakdale’s most famous homes—the Hankey Mansion. Since then, things have gotten a bit weird at the winery.
The paranormal activity has captured the attention of Ghosts N’at Paranormal Adventures, a travel company that will be your “guide to the Other Side.” They host real-life ghost hunts in some of America’s most haunted locations, giving those curious about the supernatural a chance to experience it for themselves. In October 2018, Ghosts N’at teamed up with Black Dog Wine Company and opened the Hankey Mansion to curious winos.
The Hankey Mansion is just one location of the Black Dog Wine Company, and it’s also the only one purported to be haunted. But don’t let that scare you from trying their wines. Nothing lurking in the winery seems threatening, and most people who stop by don’t even realize they’re standing in the middle of a haunted mansion as they sip on their Riesling.
