Coimetromania is the love and desire to visit cemeteries, and the Haserot Angel is a prime example of why we love to wander among gravestones.
Located in Lake View Cemetery outside of Cleveland, Ohio, this angel sits on the grave of Francis Haserot and his family. The life-sized bronze angel has its wings extended intimidatingly with a torch placed upsidedown to signify life being snuffed out. But the eeriest thing about the angel is the tears streaming down her face.
Black tears appear on the angel’s face, giving her the nickname “The Weeping Angel.” The “tears” are the effect of weathering over the years but its still unnerving to stand before her, looking at her beautiful tear-stained face.
Lake View Cemetery is expansive with 280 acres so the Haserot Angel can be a bit difficult to find. She is located in Section 9, Lot 14 with the nearest landmark on the map being the Hanna Mausoleum.
